Mimi Gross: Study For Yourself

Stevenson Library, Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York
April 18–July 29, 2022.
Curated by Fiona Laugharn

Mimi Gross: Study for Yourself presented works spanning the artist’s career, from her student years at Bard College in the late 1950s to the present. A mini-retrospective of sorts, the exhibition brought together paintings, drawings, sculptural works, and archival ephemera, highlighting Gross’s lifelong engagement with the natural world, her personal and artistic relationships, and her distinctive “2 1/2 D” practice, which moves between painting, sculpture, and collage. The exhibition also traced Gross’s formative years at Bard and the friendships and collaborations that have shaped her artistic development.
